UCAS

Are you looking to apply for University? Here you will find the key steps for completing a UCAS application.

If you are studying at one of our colleges, we will provide you with a “buzzword” for you to link your UCAS application with the college when you register your account.

To obtain your buzzword, contact the careers team of your college with your student ID number and we will send this to you.

Key steps

  1. Visit ucas.com, go to ‘Sign in’ and select ‘Students’
  2. Go to 2024 entry and click ‘Create your account’
  3. Under ‘Register’, add your personal email address, your name, and create a memorable password
  4. Input the verification code and click ‘Submit’
  5. Link your application to the college with the buzzword (ask your tutor or contact the careers team for this), click ‘Save buzzword’
  6. City and Islington (CANDI) students please complete the Tutor Reference Form, this provides crucial information for your UCAS reference
  7. ‘Select group’- choose your tutor group 
  8. Complete all the various tiles/sections 
  9. Research courses on UCAS and look at opendays.com
  10. Add your course choices (you can choose up to five)
  11. Speak with your tutor about your application, predicted grades and content for their reference
  12. Write your Personal Statement and upload it to your application (ask your tutor, family, an adviser to check)
  13. Pay the fee and inform your tutor that your form is ready for their reference* then click ‘Send’
  14. Your tutor will then check and authorise your form, and add your reference
  15. Please go to your Careers centre on your campus for a final review and for your form to be electronically sent to UCAS

*Make sure you complete the form by the deadline.
