Ali Elkayal

Ali is a specialist teacher of A Level Maths and Further Maths who joined Westminster Kingsway College in 2018. Ali has more than 25 years of teaching Maths in the Middle East and the UK. Ali is highly qualified and holds a BSc in Computer Science, a Masters in Industrial Maths and Scientific Computation, a Masters in Education Leadership and Management and an NPQ in Leading Teaching.  

As well as teaching, Ali has significant experience as head of Maths in Cambridge and Southampton. Ali is an enthusiastic trainer of Maths teachers too, a qualified Professional Development Lead from the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM). Ali loves sharing good teaching practices and discussing new ways in which to bring out the best in students.

In his spare time, Ali loves to travel and experience new cultures. He volunteered at the Keats Shelley house in Rome for more than five years, and currently, he is a patron of the Freud Museum in London.

Angela Stewart

Angela joined Westminster Kingsway College in September 2017. Angela studied at the University of the West Indies where in 1994 she completed a BSc (Hons); followed by a Master of Science degree in Biomolecular Organisation (1996) London.

After working as a laboratory technician, Angela undertook teacher training and completed her PGCE in 2000 at Goldsmiths College, London.

Before joining Westminster Kingsway College, Angela taught GCSE and A Level Chemistry at Wimbledon College, Langley Park School for Girls, Saint Cecilia’s Church of England School, Highbury Fields for Girls School, and Duff Miller Sixth Form College.

During her teaching career, Angela completed her PhD in the field of Earth and Planetary Sciences. The experimental work was performed at the Natural History Museum in London and gave rise to two publications on the absorption of iron from iron-rich soil by molecules secreted by microbes.

In addition to teaching, Angela is a Pearson EdExcel examiner for GCSE Chemistry, and a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Mineralogical Society of the UK and Ireland.

Anh Nguyen

Anh has dedicated the last 15 years to teaching GCSE and A Level Mathematics, including Further Mathematics, in various educational settings within inner London. Anh’s experience spans secondary schools, sixth-form colleges, and their current position at Westminster Kingsway College. This extensive background has provided Anh with a deep understanding of the unique learning requirements of students at this level.

Anh’s journey into teaching began after earning a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and furthered their qualifications by completing a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics. Anh has remained committed throughout their career to continuous improvement as an educator, with a particular focus on integrating principles of equality and diversity into their teaching and assessment practices.

Anh firmly believes that every child and young person has the fundamental right to realise their full potential. Recognising that education is one of the most significant institutions in the lives of young people, Anh is driven to support all students in achieving their educational aspirations within a diverse and fully inclusive learning environment. Anh’s ultimate goal is to contribute to breaking the link between social deprivation and underachievement, ensuring that every student can thrive academically and personally.

Joe Barry

Joe completed his degree in English and Drama at the University of Surrey before moving on to complete his PGCE at the Institute of Education in London.

He is a highly experienced teacher and spent a number of years teaching English and Drama in a range of different secondary schools in London. He then moved to Spain where he taught English before returning and completing an MA in Film Studies at the University of Westminster.

He began teaching Film Studies at Westminster Kingsway College in 2006 and has passed on his knowledge to many students over the years.

Mehmet Yuksel

Mehmet is highly trained with an MSc in Business Information Technology from Middlesex University, London, a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education and Training, from Greenwich University, London, and a City and Guilds Level 5 Subsidiary Diploma in Teaching Mathematics, London.

Before joining Westminster Kingsway College, Mehmet worked in various educational organisations as an ICT Tutor and Lecturer. For instance, he worked in Ealing, Hammersmith, and West London College for 13 academic years and delivered several ICT-related qualifications like Functional Skills in ICT and Mathematics/ Numeracy, GNVQ in ICT, BTEC in ICT, A Level in ICT and a HNC/HND in Computing. 

Mehmet joined Westminster Kingsway College’s Soho Centre in October 2017 delivering Functional Skills in ICT and Mathematics courses. Mehmet also worked for a year at City and Islington College where he delivered a BTEC National in ICT. 

In 2022, Mehmet moved to the Westminster Kingsway Kings Cross Centre to deliver a joint access course (Foundation degree course) with Staffordshire University, and BTEC National in ICT course, and an AS level in Computing course, where he continues to provide excellent teaching to his students.

Rachel Winzar

Rachel joined Westminster Kingsway College in 2015. She studied at Roehampton University where she completed her BSc (Hons) in Biological Science with Psychology followed by her PGCE in Secondary Science. Upon completing her PGCE Rachel joined Westminster Kingsway College to teach BTEC Applied Science Level 2 and Level 3 as well as A Level Biology.

Since joining WestKing, Rachel has had a number of roles including E-learning leader and is currently the Head of Year 12 A Levels.

Roxanne Baptiste

As a media lecturer Roxanne has 20 years of experience of teaching on a BA in digital media, Foundation Degree in media production and BTEC in film and television. Roxanne has been a course leader of the A level Media Studies programme at Westminster Kingsway College for eight years. Roxanne has a Masters in Film and television from Middlesex University, PGCE from City University and a Diploma in Public Relations. Having worked in the creative industry as a production manager for 6 years on a range of broadcast documentaries, and public relations films. Roxanne has also worked in local radio as a news presenter and in Public Relations as an account manager for fashion companies.

Roxanne has diversified into areas such as photography, video editing and enyoy learning a range of production techniques. They have continued to work on projects and is currently managing a documentary which looks at the changing face of London, from the perspective of a photographer. Roxanne is regularly informed on current political, and cultural debates through their established contacts with academics at the University of London, Goldsmiths College, UCL and having social links to journalist, photographers and artists.

Roxanne has a passion for learning and their aim is to instill those values in their students through empowering  and encouraging them to have confidence in their ability to make choices, express themselves and to change the negative perceptions that is sometimes associated with students from disadvantage backgrounds.
