ABOUT THE COURSE

A Level Further Mathematics builds on your love of mathematics, algebra and problem solving, expanding beyond the standard Maths curriculum. You will learn about new and intriguing topics such as imaginary numbers, matrices, groups and number theory as well as extend your knowledge of calculus and coordinate geometry.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • Grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language
  • Grade 8 or above in GCSE Maths
  • Three further GCSEs at grade 4 or above

If you wish to study 4 A Levels, you will need 7 GCSEs at grade 7 or above, including two at grade 8.

All applicants must have an interview to confirm that A Levels are suitable for them.

This subject must be studied in combination with Maths.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment is by examination at the end of the course. There will be two exams on the core aspects of the course and two exams on further pure mathematics.

A Levels are widely regarded as the standard entry qualification for top universities in the UK, and the rest of the world. Many of our students go on to study for a degree at the university of their choice, with some choosing to progress into apprenticeships or other employment.
