This course equips you with the skills and experience to progress in engineering, mixing practical work with underpinning theory to develop your understanding of the engineering environment. If you will be aged 19+ on 31st August prior to the start date of your course, up to Level 2, then your study with us will be free. You must have lived for 3 years within the EU/EEA/UK prior to the start of your course, you must have lived in the UK before 1st January 2021 and you must have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the first day of learning. Upon successfully completing this course, you are able to progress to Level 3 Engineering or a Level 2 Apprenticeship.
Minas earned a BSc degree in Physics and Physiology from the University of London, followed by a PhD in Physiology, focusing on cystic fibrosis and studying the impact of plasma on digestive system ion movement. He presented his research at various scientific conferences.
For four years, Minas conducted postdoctoral research at Imperial College London, exploring tiny electric currents across cells and hormone effects. Additionally, he obtained an MSc in Medical Diagnostics from the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, emphasising modern scientific and diagnostic techniques with an ethical perspective. In 2010, he earned a PGCE from Greenwich University.
For over 40 years, Minas taught Science and Mathematics at GCSE and A Level in schools, colleges, and privately, including university students, even teaching a princess. For 7-8 years, he worked at the Open University Summer School, serving as a demonstrator and tutor, assisting students in Biochemistry and Physiology. Minas now teaches at CONEL, where he regularly takes students to university laboratories for experiments. Outside academia, Minas is active in social, political, and humanitarian affairs, engaging with political leaders in the UK, Parliament, FCO, and abroad.
