ABOUT THE COURSE

This course has been specifically designed to equip you for higher level studies or entry into a Uniformed Services role.

Extended Diplomas have two one-year programmes. You need to finish the first year before moving on to the second.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

This course consists of two separate qualifications. In your first year of study, you will work towards the Level 3 90-Credit Diploma. Following successful completion of this qualification, you will be able to progress to the Extended Diploma. Our Extended Diplomas offer equivalent UCAS points to studying 3 A Levels.

Topics covered can include:

  • Preparing for a Career in a Chosen Uniformed Service
  • Developing Aspects of Physical Fitness for Entry to the Uniformed Services
  • Developing Leadership Skills
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Uniformed Services Hierarchy and Routine
  • Values and Standards
  • Mental and Physical Wellbeing
  • UK Legal Systems and Uniformed Services
  • Security Procedures in the Uniformed Services

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit (and Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2/GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above)
  • A reference from your previous school/college

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them. 

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment is continuous and focuses on practical tasks and an extended project. There will be occasional written tests to demonstrate your understanding.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

Aged 16-18


If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Adults - Level 3

If you will be aged 19 to 23 prior to the start date of your course, and do not already have a full Level 3 qualification, you may be eligible for a Level 3 entitlement, in which case your study with us will be free. If you are older, or already have a Level 3, we have many other Level 3 courses that are also free to study. Otherwise, you will have to pay the fees yourself or apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

On successful completion of this course, you could progress to higher education, an apprenticeship or other employment.Alternatively you can progress onto our Fitness courses.Opportunity to progress into the Special Constables with the Met Police.

Afzal is a seasoned educator and expert in both English and Mathematics and brings a wealth of professionalism and a remarkable blend of academic and industry expertise to the field of education. With an illustrious career spanning multiple levels of education, Afzal has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring.

Afzal's expertise in coaching and mentoring has enabled him to play a pivotal role as a coach for over 20 fellow teachers within his college group, guiding and nurturing them both personally and professionally. This dedication to professional development has not only empowered Afzal's colleagues but has also enriched the overall teaching community.

In summary, Afzal is a true education professional who combines academic expertise, industry knowledge, and a passion for teaching to create a profound impact on both students and fellow educators.


David Augustine

David became a member of the former Enfield College in August 2005, which subsequently underwent mergers with Conel College and then CCCG. His role at that time was that of a Basic Skills Lecturer in Mathematics. Before this position, David initiated his professional journey in 1985 by teaching Statistics and Economics to year 11 and 12 students in India and Iran.

David pursued his education at Calicut University in India, where he obtained a Master's Degree in Economics and Statistics. Additionally, he completed a Bachelor's in Education from Annamalai University, also located in India. Upon his relocation to the United Kingdom, David further enhanced his qualifications by undertaking a 3-year Certificate of Education Course with City & Guilds. He specialized in Mathematics at Level 5 through South Bank University in London.

Due to his extensive wealth of expertise and pedagogical knowledge, David adeptly instructed learners of various levels, ranging from Pre-Entry to Level 2, KS4, Access to Teaching, Access to Nursing, and those with severe learning difficulties. His teaching subjects encompass Mathematics and Digital Skills.
