Grosvenor House is located on Park Lane in the heart of Mayfair. A distinguished 5-star hotel offers exceptional accommodation, epicurean delights and sweeping views over Hyde Park. This grand 5-star hotel celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2019.

JW Marriott Grosvenor House London welcomes celebrities, royalty and business leaders to Mayfair throughout its history and continues to do so. London is on the doorstep, the hotel is a stone’s throw from Bond Street, Knightsbridge, Regent Street, Buckingham Palace, V&A, Natural History & Science museums and the West End. Guests can experience modern luxury in a place where they can be mindful and present, and indulge in the inspired service and nourishing surroundings.

What you’ll be doing our newly appointed Commis Chef:

  • Prepare fresh ingredients for cooking according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and food preparation checklist
  • Cook food and prepare top-quality menu items in a timely manner
  • Test foods to ensure proper portion, food garnish and temperature
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly
  • Ensure the proper sanitation and cleanliness of surfaces and storage containers

The hotel has a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week operation. Therefore, are searching for apprentices who can work any shift pattern (early, late, weekends, bank holidays). Benefits include 20 days paid holiday plus 8 paid bank holidays (double time if worked) pension, meals on duty, uniforms provided, £11.44 per hour (college hours paid).

Requirements and Prospects

  • GCSE English and Maths grades A-D / 3-9 (or equivalent)
  • GCSE Cookery/Food Tech is desirable

Further Information

Remember you will be on your feet all day! You will be working in a busy and challenging kitchen. You will work a rota which may require you to work weekends and evenings. Please research location and consider your commute in terms of time and cost prior to applying for the role.

Training to be provided

  • On the job training 4 days a week and 1 day a week at WKC Commis Chef Apprenticeship.
  • Standard Functional Skills English and Maths at Level 1, progressing to level 2
