Apprenticeship Summary

A Chef Apprenticeship position is available at the Home of Cricket allowing you to develop your culinary skills in a fast-paced major event kitchen. This will include the preparation of meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, breakfast, banqueting and desserts. You will learn basic kitchen skills, food hygiene, health and safety, storage, and cleaning. You will assist chefs with achieving targets set by the Club in a variety of kitchen environments (Main Kitchen, Cold production, Pastry and Tavern Pub).

Responsibilities include:

  • To assist the goods receiving team as required
  • To understand the business needs and requirements
  • To assist in maintaining all Health, Hygiene and Safety records
  • Assist in ensuring the highest standard of cleanliness is maintained within the kitchen
  • To carry out all reasonable tasks expected by management
  • Assist in team building exercises leading to effective MCC requirements
  • Ensure attendance of all relevant training and development courses
  • To assist in receiving food deliveries ensuring that produce is correctly checked, stored & delivery notes signed for and passed on to procurement managers as requested

Variations of job relating to major matches:

  • Attendance at all major match days, including weekends
  • Any other duties as required whether in the Department or elsewhere around the Ground

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications:

  • GCSE English and maths grades A-D (or equivalent)
  • GCSE Cookery/Food Tech is desirable
  • Food Safety Level 2 (desirable)

Further Information

Remember you will be on your feet all day! You will be working in a hot and busy kitchen. You will work a rota which may require you to work weekends and evenings. Please research location and consider your commute in terms of time and cost prior to applying for the role.
