In the first half of the session, the class will delve into the history of music publishing, exploring its evolution within the music industry and examine how publishing varies across different musical genres.
The second half transitions into an interactive workshop where you role-play as various music entities—solo artists, bands, managers, press officers, and booking agents etc — based on your own interests and needs.
Together, the class will curate an EP, determine writer splits for each track, and learn the intricacies of the roles behind a successful music act.
To wrap up the day, the class will dissect common clauses in publishing contracts, enriching the discussion with real-life examples drawn from Kennedy's 30+ years of experience in the music industry.
